The sculptures, especially the tree shells, illustrate through form and shape what happened to the trees – the years in which they could grow quietly and strongly, those in which they suffered and the forces that formed them.
"We have to look very closely at the existing space to" plant "a tree in a building, but a properly sized piece of outdoors can create a very invigorating effect from the resulting contrast," says Peter Wagensonner.
